How to race friends in Type Rush

Create a private room, share the code, and race up to a full lobby in real time on Vaults.lol.

Creating a room

Open Type Rush and choose the private mode. You become the host, you pick the difficulty, and the room gets a short code in the shape ABC-123.

The code is hidden on screen by default. There is a show button and a copy button, so you can share it on purpose instead of leaking it in a screenshot or a stream.

Joining a room

Anyone with the code opens Type Rush, chooses to join, and types the code. They appear in the lobby straight away with their name and avatar.

Room codes expire, so an old code from last week will not let strangers walk into a new race.

The lobby

Everyone in the lobby gets their own panel with an animated border, so you can see at a glance who has arrived and who is connected. When everyone is ready, the host starts the race and a synced countdown runs for all players at the same time.

Leaving and disconnecting

If you try to navigate away from an active room, you get a warning first so you do not lose a race by accident.

If the host leaves or refreshes, the room closes and everyone is told what happened. If a player leaves during a race, their lane stays visible as disconnected instead of silently vanishing.

XP in multiplayer

Everyone who finishes earns XP. First place earns the most, then second and third, and the rest still earn their base amount plus their own speed and accuracy bonuses.
