How to add a poll to your Vaults profile
Step by step: add a Poll block, write options, choose when results show, and set a closing date.
Step 1: add the block
Open your dashboard, go to Links, and add a new block. Choose Poll from the block list. It drops onto your page straight away with a placeholder question so you can see how it looks.
Step 2: write the question and options
Type the question at the top. Then add one option per line item. Keep option labels short, since they need to fit on a phone screen. Empty options are ignored, so you can leave a blank row while you think.
Step 3: choose when results show
Set results to show after voting if you do not want early votes to influence later ones. Set them to always visible if the current standings are the interesting part.
Step 4: vote changes and closing date
Turn on vote changes if people should be able to switch their answer. Leave it off for a one shot vote. Set a closing date if the poll should stop by itself, for example the night before you announce the result.
Step 5: place it where people will see it
Drag the block so it sits near the top of your page, above your long link list. A poll buried at the bottom gets very few votes.
Troubleshooting
If your vote does not register, you have most likely already voted from that account or network and vote changes are turned off. If the poll shows as closed, the closing date has passed. Clear the date to reopen it.
