How to set up a bio link for Substack writers

Use Vaults to turn your Instagram and TikTok bio into a newsletter signup machine for your Substack.

Last updated

Create your Vaults page

Sign up and claim a username that matches your brand, like vaults.lol/yournewsletter. Add a display name, a short bio explaining what readers get, and a profile picture or logo.

Keep the bio specific. 'A weekly deep dive into indie games, plus a free Discord for subscribers' tells people exactly what they are signing up for.

Feature your latest posts

Add a second link button for your most recent post with a title like 'Read the latest issue' or 'This week: [headline]'. Update this link every time you publish so returning visitors always see something fresh.

You can also add a Text block between links with a one sentence teaser, then place the 'Subscribe' button right under it so curious readers convert immediately.

Add a dedicated signup block

If you want the signup form directly on your Vaults page, use the Custom HTML block. Copy the embed code from your Substack publication settings and paste it into the block. The form renders inline, so visitors can type their email without leaving your page.

Custom HTML is a Lifetime or Supporter feature. Free users can still use the pinned 'Subscribe on Substack' button for the same result.

Put it in your bio

Copy your Vaults URL and paste it into the website field on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Threads, or LinkedIn. Mention it in your posts and stories with a clear call to action like 'Link in bio for the full newsletter'.

Track what works

Open the Analytics page to see which link gets the most clicks. If the 'Subscribe on Substack' button outperforms your latest post link, move it higher. If nobody clicks your archive link, replace it with a different offer.
