Are Vaults chats private
What we can and cannot see in your chat rooms.
Short answer
Yes. Vaults does not store your chat messages, your replies, your reactions or the files you share in a chat room. They go directly between browsers over WebRTC.
What we do see
Our server runs the WebRTC signaling that helps two browsers find each other. That signaling sees that a connection is being set up. It does not see the content of the messages, the file contents, the reactions, or the chat history.
Persistence
Chat rooms are session based. When everyone closes the tab, the messages are gone. There is no permanent message log on Vaults servers to leak.
What you should still avoid
Other people in the room can see and screenshot anything you send, exactly like any other group chat. Trust the people you give the room key to.
Rules still apply
Vaults does not support illegal activity, scams, malware, harassment, threats, exploitation or abuse in chats. Private transport does not make harmful use acceptable.
