Why can't I upload a video or song to my bio link page?

Uploads fail for a handful of repeatable reasons: file size, format, duration limits or a host that blocks hotlinking. Here is how to fix each one.

The file is too big

This is the most common cause. Many platforms cap uploads at a fixed size, and even when there is no hard cap, a 50 MB video will load slowly for every visitor. Compress the video before uploading. A short looping background rarely needs to be more than a few MB.

Free tools can do this in your browser without installing anything. The Vaults tools page has a video compressor, an MP4 to WebM converter and a trimmer that run locally on your device.

The format is not supported

Browsers reliably play MP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio) and WebM. If your file is a MOV, MKV, AVI or a screen recording in an unusual codec, convert it first. The same goes for audio: MP3 and OGG are safe, while less common formats may fail silently.

If a video exports with a 4:4:4 color profile it can render as a black screen even though the file plays elsewhere. Re-exporting as standard H.264 with yuv420p fixes that.

The host blocks hotlinking

If you are embedding a video or song by URL and it never plays, the host may be blocking requests from other sites. Test the URL by opening it directly in a private browser tab. If it plays there but not on your page, the file is fine and the host is the problem.

Use a host that serves the raw file directly, without a download page, redirects or a sign-in wall.

The duration or resolution is over the limit

Some platforms reject videos over a certain length or resolution. Trim the clip to the loop you actually want and export at a sensible resolution. For a background, 1080p is usually plenty, and vertical phone footage often looks better cropped than squeezed.

How Vaults handles it

On Vaults.lol you paste a direct media URL or upload through the built in image host, and the dashboard tells you to compress large files before adding them. If an upload fails, the fix is almost always 1 of the 4 reasons above, and the free tools page handles the compression and conversion steps.
