Can you copy Vaults.lol features and design?

Vaults.lol's position on copied code, dashboard design, badges, written content, branding and misleading lookalikes.

Last updated

Our position

Do not copy Vaults.lol's original code, artwork, badges, writing, graphics, or the distinctive expression of its interface. That includes the original visual treatment of our dashboard, its screens and controls, and the specific way we present our profile editor, games and Vault Sigil. Publishing a close reproduction under another domain does not make it original.

We document our releases and retain evidence of our work. Where a competitor reproduces protected material, we may demand removal, send a properly supported hosting or search-engine takedown notice, and pursue other remedies available under applicable law.

Code, images, badges and writing

Do not copy our source code or substantially reproduce its original expression. Do not take our logo, wordmark, custom badge marks, Sigil artwork, game artwork, interface graphics, illustrations, screenshots used as your own product, or the text of our site, wiki, policies and tutorials. The same applies to substantial adapted or recolored copies, not only byte-for-byte duplicates.

Third-party media embedded by users belongs to its own rights holders. A user publishing something on Vaults.lol does not transfer that work to us. Our notice concerns material we created or have the right to enforce.

Dashboard and profile design

Do not replicate our original dashboard screens, layout details, iconography, typography treatment, visual assets and copy so closely that your site reads like a reskin of Vaults.lol. We will assess substantial copying of protectable creative choices in context, including the overall combination, rather than claiming exclusive ownership of ordinary navigation, tabs, settings pages, standard controls or common layout patterns.

The appearance of a product can also be relevant to design or unfair-competition rules in some places. Those protections depend on the facts and jurisdiction; this notice does not assert a registration we have not obtained.

Names and misleading branding

Do not use Vaults.lol, our logo or other distinctive identifiers to imply that your product is ours or is endorsed by us. We may challenge confusingly similar branding where we have enforceable rights. The phrase Vault Sigil identifies our feature and artwork in context, but this notice does not claim an exclusive right to the ordinary word 'sigil' by itself, or claim that every feature name is a registered trademark.

Features and concepts are not ours to monopolize

Copyright protects original expression, not the general idea of a link-in-bio page, a profile builder, badges, games, a progress system, an analytics page, a music player or customizable backgrounds. A competitor can independently build similar functionality. What they cannot do is take our protected code, content, artwork or sufficiently original expressive design, or pass themselves off as Vaults.lol.

Simply listing the same kinds of features or organizing standard settings in a practical way is not automatically infringement. Each claim must be supported by the actual material copied and the law that applies.

How we enforce our rights

We preserve dated originals and compare the allegedly copied material before acting. When evidence supports a claim, we may contact the operator, send a notice to their host or platform, request search removal, or seek legal advice about an injunction or damages. DMCA notices are for qualifying copyright infringement under US law, not for similar ideas, a shared feature list, or a disputed brand name. Other jurisdictions have their own procedures.

A takedown request is not an automatic legal finding. False or exaggerated claims can carry consequences, so we review evidence before sending one. See our Copyright Policy at https://vaults.lol/copyright for our reporting and counter-notice process.
