Recovery codes, how to get back into your account
Vaults.lol has no email, so a one time recovery code is how you get back in if you forget your password.
Why recovery codes exist
Vaults.lol never asks for an email address. That is good for privacy, but it used to mean a forgotten password was the end of the account.
A recovery code fixes that without collecting anything about you. It is a code tied to your account that proves you are the owner.
Getting your code
You are shown a recovery code for your account, and you can find the recovery card in Settings. Save it somewhere safe, in a password manager, a notes app or on paper.
The code is stored in a scrambled form on our side, so nobody at Vaults can read it back to you. If you lose it, generate a new one while you are still signed in.
Using it
On the sign in page, choose the recovery option, enter your username and your recovery code, and set a new password. You are straight back into your account with everything intact.
Keep it private
Treat the code like a password. Anyone who has it and knows your username can reset your password, so never paste it in a chat or a screenshot.
