No, usernames are permanent on the account they were created with. There is no rename button in Settings, that was intentional. If you want a different handle you have two safe paths: (a) upgrade this account to Lifetime (€5) or Supporter (€9.99) first, then sign up a second account with the new handle, the paid status prevents the anti-abuse system from restricting the new account for sharing your IP, or (b) delete this account from Settings first, wait a minute, then sign up fresh with the new handle. Every piece of heavy media on a profile, backgrounds, background videos, music, custom site icons, image host embeds, YouTube and Spotify players, is a URL embed. The file lives on the platform you originally uploaded it to (YouTube, Imgur, Catbox, Spotify, Discord CDN, your own host, wherever), and your visitor's browser streams it directly from that source. Vaults never proxies it, never re-encodes it and never pays egress for it. The only file uploads we accept are small avatars, so our storage bill stays near zero. On top of that, profiles load lazily: even if a user has multiple pages, blocks, embeds and galleries, we only fetch and render the page the visitor is actually on and defer the rest until it's actually needed. Fonts, blocks and non-critical scripts stream in after the first paint. Result: a profile with a video background and a full music playlist can cost us less per view than a plain text page on most competitors, because the bytes never touch our servers.
