Copyright policy

Vaults.lol respects the work of the people who make things. Profiles on Vaults.lol are built by their owners, and the platform is not a place to republish someone else's photography, music, artwork, writing, video or software as if it were your own. If you own rights to a work and it is being used on a Vaults.lol profile without your permission, we will act on a valid report.

Media people upload on Vaults.lol, such as backgrounds, videos, songs, images, custom site icons and avatars, is hosted by us through a delivery partner. Profiles can also embed media that lives elsewhere, for example YouTube or Spotify players or a direct link to another site. We remove any file we host once a valid report shows it infringes, and we can always remove the link, the block or the profile from Vaults.lol. When a file lives on another service, a report to that service as well removes it there too.

1. The exact Vaults.lol address, for example vaults.lol/username, and the specific link, block or image on that page.
2. A description of the original work and where the original can be seen.
3. A statement that you own the rights or are authorised to act for the rights owner.
4. A statement, made in good faith, that the use is not authorised by you, your agent or the law.
5. A contact method we can reply on, and your name or the name of the organisation you represent.

We read reports manually. Complete reports are usually actioned within 24 hours.

If a report is valid, we remove or disable the reported content. Depending on how much of the profile is infringing, that can mean deleting a single link or block, replacing an avatar, hiding a page, or removing the whole profile. We notify the account owner that content was removed and tell them which report it relates to, so they can respond or fix the page. We do not hand your personal contact details to the account owner unless we are legally required to.

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter notice through the same channels. Explain what was removed, why you have the right to use it, for example a licence, permission, public domain status or fair dealing, and include a way to reach you. If the counter notice is credible and the original reporter does not escalate the matter legally, we may restore the content.

Accounts that repeatedly publish infringing material are terminated. There is no fixed number of strikes, a first report involving commercial piracy, leaked paid content or malware distribution can end an account immediately, while an honest mistake corrected quickly usually will not. Terminated accounts do not receive refunds for Lifetime, Supporter or premium handle purchases, and the username may be released or retired at our discretion.

Filing a knowingly false report to take down a rival, an ex, a competitor or someone you dislike is abuse of this process. We ignore reports that are clearly retaliatory, and we may block reporters who repeatedly send false claims. Misrepresenting ownership of a work can also carry legal consequences in your jurisdiction.

Streaming a track or video through an official embed, for example a YouTube, Spotify or SoundCloud player, is normally fine because the platform serving that media handles the licensing. Hosting a direct audio or video file that you do not have the rights to, and linking it into your Vaults.lol profile as a background or music player, is not fine. Use your own recordings, licensed material, royalty free material, or official embeds.

Library. Vaults.lol does not sell wallpapers, videos or any other media. Paid tiers unlock features of our service, never the right to any specific video. The Library is a free, non-commercial collection of community-submitted media. Vaults stores copies so they load quickly, but the files were not created or uploaded by Vaults, and no payment is ever taken for any individual video, image or song. Original creators keep all rights, and any item is taken down on request through the contact details below.

Using someone else's photograph, illustration or fan art as your avatar or background requires their permission. Using a real person's photograph to pretend to be that person is impersonation and is handled under the Terms of Service as well as this policy. Reports about your own face or likeness are treated with the same priority as copyright reports, even when you do not own the copyright in the photograph.

Publishing on Vaults.lol does not transfer ownership of anything to us. You keep every right you had before. You grant us only the narrow permission needed to store and display your page to visitors, and that permission ends when you delete the content or the account.

Every effect you can apply on the Customize page is original work owned by Vaults.lol. That covers profile picture effects, background effects, username effects, custom cursors, entrance animations, page click sounds, layouts, and the badge and Sigil artwork used across the site. Each of these was designed and produced by us, and the artwork behind it is ours. Applying an effect to your profile gives you permission to display it on Vaults.lol. It does not give you permission to copy, export, re-record, trace, recreate, resell or reuse that artwork anywhere else, including as a recolored, cropped or slightly altered version. If we find our effects or their artwork published on another site, app or store, we file a takedown with the host, and where it is warranted, with the payment provider or app store involved. We reserve all rights.

The original Vaults.lol wordmark, logo, badge and Sigil artwork, site writing, wiki articles, original graphics, code and creative elements of our dashboard and profile interface are work we created. Do not reproduce protected portions of our screens, presentation or artwork under another name, including as a recolored clone. Do not use our identity in a way that suggests affiliation or endorsement. Product names and logos belonging to other platforms remain the property of their respective owners.

A competing site must not copy our original source code, custom badges, illustrations, Sigil marks, profile effects and their artwork, game artwork, page text or substantially reproduce the creative expression of our dashboard or profile screens. We may challenge confusing use of our branding where enforceable rights apply. We do not claim ownership of the generic word "sigil", ordinary settings layouts, or the idea of badges, games, customization, analytics or link-in-bio profiles. We preserve evidence and assess each case before taking action. Where original protected material has been copied, we may contact the operator, submit a supported copyright notice to a host or search provider, or seek legal remedies. A DMCA notice applies to qualifying copyright claims under US law, not merely to a similar idea, feature or name. We do not submit notices simply to suppress a competitor.
