How to embed a YouTube video as your bio link background

2026-05-21

YouTube videos make the best free bio link backgrounds. You get unlimited storage, world class playback quality, and zero cost. Here is how to set one up on Vaults in under 60 seconds.

Step 1: pick or upload the video

You can use any public or unlisted YouTube video. If it is your own footage, upload it to YouTube first and set it to "Unlisted" so it does not appear in search but anyone with the link can view it. If you found a clip you like, just grab its URL.

Step 2: copy the link

Any YouTube URL works. youtube.com/watch?v=..., youtu.be/..., even Shorts URLs. Vaults parses all of them.

Step 3: paste into Vaults

Go to your dashboard customize tab, click the background tile, choose "Video URL", and paste. Hit save. Visit your profile. Done.

What Vaults does automatically

  • Strips the YouTube player UI so only the video shows.
  • Mutes it (autoplay only works muted, this is a browser rule, not us).
  • Loops it forever.
  • Scales it to cover the full screen with no black bars.

Tips for the best looking background

  • Pick a video that loops cleanly (the end matches the start).
  • Avoid videos with cuts every 2 seconds, it gets distracting.
  • Slow ambient footage (nature, city at night, abstract motion) works best.
  • If your video has a watermark or text, it might show on the edge of the screen. Pick a clean source.

Same trick works with Vimeo, Streamable, and Twitch clips. Set up your video background →
