Since Vaults uses URL embeds for images (to keep the platform free), you need somewhere to host the image first. Good news: free image hosts are everywhere and most are dead simple. Here are the 5 we actually recommend, ranked by how painless they are.
1. Imgur
The classic. Drag, drop, right click "Copy image address". No account needed. Reliable CDN, works forever. Best for most people.
2. Postimages
Similar to Imgur, often a bit faster outside the US. Gives you a direct image URL right after upload. No account required.
3. Catbox.moe
Minimalist file host. Supports almost any format (including animated WebP, GIF, even small MP4 files). Files stay up indefinitely. Great for backgrounds.
4. Discord CDN
If you are already on Discord, drop the image in any channel (a private server or a DM works), right click and "Copy link". The URL works as a direct image embed. Just remember the file stays as long as that message stays.
5. ImgBB
Free, simple, gives you both a direct URL and a thumbnail. Optional account if you want to keep an album.
Which one should you use?
- One off background or avatar: Imgur or Postimages.
- Lots of images for your image host page: Catbox or ImgBB.
- Already living in Discord: Discord CDN, it is the fastest path.
